When Not To Hire Me
After 30+ projects, I've learned I'm not the right fit for everyone. And that's okay.
Some projects go beautifully. Others struggle not because anyone did anything wrong, but because the fit wasn't right from the start.
So here's what I've learned about when you shouldn't hire me.
🔴 Your offer changes monthly
Why: Your website will be outdated before it launches.
Better move: Use a template until things stabilize. You've got this figured out—just needs a bit more time.
🔴 You need it done in 2 weeks
Why: Good strategy takes 6-10 weeks.
Better move: Grab a template or find a speed-focused designer. Sometimes fast is more important than deep.
🔴 Budget is under $5K
Why: Strategic work starts around $10K.
Better move: Start with a template + good copy. When revenue grows, upgrade. That's a smart path.
🔴 You want someone to "just execute"
Why: I ask questions and push back on assumptions.
Better move: Hire a designer who takes orders well. Nothing wrong with knowing exactly what you want.
🔴 You're pre-revenue
Why: You haven't learned enough from customers yet.
Better move: Make some sales first, learn what resonates, then invest in design.
So When Should You Hire Me?
We're probably a great fit if this looks like your situation…
✅ Revenue: $500K-$5M annually
✅ Offer clarity: You know what you do and who it's for
✅ Timeline: You have 6-10 weeks for a thoughtful process
✅ Budget: $7K-$15K feels appropriate for this stage
✅ Mindset: You want strategic thinking, not just execution
Why I'm Telling You This
Most designers won't tell you when you're not ready. They'll take the project, do their best, and everyone ends up disappointed.
I'd rather lose you early while being helpful than waste your money on the wrong thing.
If this isn't the right moment, that's okay. Bookmark this page. When your situation changes and you are ready for a strategic redesign, hopefully you'll remember me :)
That's my not-so-hidden agenda.
